The man was found in Stamford around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18 near the pathway that connects Woodland Avenue and Walter Wheeler Drive.

Capt. Tom Scanlon of the Stamford Police said the man was found after the department received a 911 reporting a man lying on his back in the area.

Stamford Fire and EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the man dead, Scanlon said.

The man has been identified by police, but his identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

"At this time, the Department considers this death as suspicious and is awaiting further findings by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner," Scanlon said.

The department is asking anyone with information they believe may pertain to this investigation to contact Sgt. Jennifer Lynch at 203-977-4417.
